About Me

Leadership | Strategy | Products | Technology | Agile | Design Thinking | Digital Transformation

I am a product and technology guy who brings creative thoughts to the table and solves everyday problems whether it is business, technical or organization challenges. I am driven by the founder mindset and a strong sense of purpose. I am all about growing software businesses and product innovation through customer development. I have experienced a linear career progression due to repeat history and passion for launching new products, growing an existing portfolio, building strong agile organizations and driving digital transformation. It landed me on leadership roles at small or large companies.

Few things that are consistent everywhere I go — I build long lasting relationships; seemingly impossible large/complex things become possible; failing business performance improves; customer satisfaction/engagement significantly improves; innovation happens; team gets much stronger and happier – all leading to an increase in company values and shareholder value.

As a business leader my stronger muscle is product & technology due to my career growth from developer/architect ranks to driving product/technology vision; strategy, product management, product development and innovation in enterprise software.

I am a lifelong learner and an avid reader who enjoys getting involved with startups or local incubators trying to spot what is around the corner.

On a personal front — and after living a nomadic life — traveling and living in several countries, I now live with my wife Alka in Dallas/FortWorth area in Texas. We have two lovely daughters – Ayushi and Mansi – who are wonderfully contributing back to the society and making this world a better place.

I grew up in North India and started my professional career in New Delhi, India. Over time, we lived in Stockholm, Sweden; London, UK before relocating to the US and making it our home.

  1. Hello Alok,

Your profile on linkedin and your blog enticed me to send you this message. I see that you have many years of experience in software development, so I thought you would be interested in what my company has to offer.

Please visit our web site at http://www.palamida.com and let me know if you would be open to an introductory meeting of my company?

Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

  2. Hello,
    Ashish from Citipals here.
Read your blog and really liked it. Its a very interesting one indeed. I see that you are interested in stuff that pertains to Indian startups and entrepreneur ventures.
Citipals is a website that caters specifically to Indian audiences and contains information on lifestyle entities such as restaurants, bars, theatres and of course movies in cities like Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata( Plan to extend the cities covered to many others in the near future).
We also enlist the new releases in Bollywood and Hollywood that are screened across the country.
Our objective behind emailing is to request you to post a story on the venture and effort, that specifically caters to the Indian audience.

We have created a new and interesting feature called MovieMatch. MovieMatch is a place where you can rate popular Bollywood and Hollywood movies. This feature enables you to compare your taste with your friends and at the same time, its also a great platform to make your opinion known to people.
We have created a facebook app for MovieMatch as well where facebook users can play MovieMatch.

ou can read our latest press release on a facebook app by us at http://blog.citipals.com/2007/11/moviematch-new-facebook-app-for-indians.html
We also tried something sarcastically funny in the recent past and you can read a bit about it at http://blog.citipals.com/2007/11/social-networks-mania_07.html ( this is a small jscript animation slideshow which shows what will happen if social networks become “really open”)
Further, you can read out press release on MovieMatch- a small game which lets you and your friends share ratings and opinion on a set of hit bollywood and hollywood movies; both blockbusters and new releases at http://blog.citipals.com/2007/11/moviematch-compare-your-tastes-in.html
Press release for MovieMatch is posted at http://blog.citipals.com/2007/11/answer-to-users-quest-for-trusted.html

I hope that you will like the matter that we have gathered at citipals.
    Looking forward to your reply.

PS: If you like the website, but due to some reason, are unable to post a story/article or our press release on our website, do let us know. We would love to have you as a contributing user on our website. citipals ensures that users have fun while sharing things that interests them.

    Thanks,
    Ashish

  4. Hi, Alok
Your blog came up while researching some error/bug with Peachtree Quantum Smart Posting.
But looking at your posts and the diverse yet interesting content , I soon forgot why I came here in the first place !
Needless to say , your blog is now bookmarked in my browser.

    cheers,
    Sachin Salgarkar

  5. Alok would you be cool with our republishing the informative post below in full, with your byline, photo and bio (plus a link back to the original URL) at http://cloudcomputing.sys-con.com?

We try and do this across all our many and varied sites from time to time by adding insightful posts by writers outside our immediate circle. It’s our way of introducing fresh new voices to our audience…and vice versa 🙂

Let us know, yes? Meantime have a great Sunday!
